Moira McCarty Lamb, the founder of Sing, Sign & Play, and Musical Stepping Stones, is an Orff certified instructor, Licensed Music TogetherĀ® Instructor and a Board Certified Signing SmartĀ® Instructor. Ms. Lamb has developed many well received signing & preschool music programs as well as being involved in the development of curriculum for Signing Smart and Kindermusik International. She is a sought after teacher, who has been invited to present at local and national events. Some of those events include: Whole Foods Valencia "Kids Camp" and "Community Giving" campaigns. Think Santa Clarita featured her at the 2009 Santa Clarita Arts & Literacy Festival. Since 2009, she remains a featured artist at the Friends of Valencia Library's "Storytime Series". The semi-monthly "Jammin' Jammies" events are said to be one of the library's most popular classes. In 2005, she was invited to the annual California Association for Music Education (CMEA) Conference to present on two topics: "Sign Language and Speech Development", and "Music and the Brain", which discussed the many positive effects of music as part of early childhood education. With extensive training in vocal performance, Ms. Lamb began studying opera with Dr. David Scott in 1996 at Cal State University Northridge, for a Bachelors of Music Performance degree. Ms. Lamb remains a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, a philanthropic organization of women in music. Raised in a family of 12 children, Ms. Lamb was inspired by her father and mother who worked tireless hours, but managed to always make time to read, play and entertain with their children. Since starting her own family in 1999, and personally experiencing the magical connection between music, sign language, and the very young, Ms. Lamb has poured her own love for learning into teaching. "Ms. Moira," as she's affectionately known by her students, teaches weekly music and sign language classes to babies through school age children at her studio in Valencia. With community involvement and the support of many wonderful parents, her classes continue to grow by word of mouth, earning Sing, Sign & Play a 2009 "Favorite Places in Santa Clarita" honor from the search giant, Google.
